WHY WE DO IT
At Change Please we exist to challenge stereotypes, to breakdown walls and kick open doors for those who may struggle to open them. Instead of handouts, we believe in giving a hand up so everyone can harness the potential within and become the best version of themselves.
HOW WE DO IT
Change Please exemplifies the power of social enterprise by dedicating 100% of profits from our coffee sales to a proven approach that includes training, work experience, employment coaching, and individualized support. This comprehensive program equips our trainees with in-demand skills and delivers personalized attention, increasing their opportunities to overcome homelessness; becoming self-sufficient, independent, and re-engaged in their communities in the process.
EMPLOYMENT CENTERED
There are many factors that can cause homelessness including unemployment, stagnant wages, domestic abuse, and lack of affordable housing and healthcare. Whatever their journey, our top priority is to help people build long-term stability through employment with a process that's designed to elevate their confidence and self-worth.
BARISTA TRAINING MODEL
Trainees are paid a living wage throughout their time with us. In Barista Training, they learn practical skills like how to pour latte art and deliver great customer service, as well as essential soft skills like interview techniques and career advancement strategies. During Immersive Workplace Experiences with our corporate partners, Trainees get to experience themselves as valued community members and service providers in some very impressive environments.
ONWARD OPPORTUNITIES
Upon completing the training, graduates receive one-on-one support to identify and pursue roles aligned with their career goals. In collaboration with referral partners and service providers, we ensure they receive the necessary support to thrive.
